What is Hojicha Roasted Green Tea?
Clearspring Organic Japanese Hojicha loose leaf tea is a roasted green tea. It is grown in the luscious rolling hills around Kyoto and Kyushu, areas known for their ideal climatic and soil conditions which produce some of the finest teas in Japan.
How is it made?
The unique character of Hojicha comes from carefully ageing and roasting green tea leaves. This gives it its distinct nutty aroma and smoky flavour. The roasting process helps to reduce the caffeine in our Hojicha tea, making it much lower than in coffee, black tea and sencha green tea. Whilst it can be enjoyed at any time of the day, it is perfect after a meal or as a calming evening tea to help you unwind. It is worth noting that most common tea varieties come from the same plant - Camellia Sinensis. The difference between each tea variant lies in the way the tea is produced and processed.
Enjoy the perfect brew
Place 2 heaped teaspoons of tea per person in a teapot. Boil fresh water and pour over the tea. Infuse for 2-3 minutes and enjoy.
